Welcome to a Virtual Visit to El Salvador!
Read about her life in the segments about her village, Cinquera
Then pick a segment that sounds interesting to you, and read.  Resolve to:
- Learn about one aspect of El Salvador
- Pray for one person or one community that you read about
- Take some action to help these people for whom you've prayed.  A fine action right now would be to ask your representatives in Congress to oppose the Central American Free Trade Agreement, which might come up for a vote this summer.  For those of us who live in Illinois, it looks like our state might be pivotal in this debate.

Learn, pray, act, and pass
this site along!

These kids live near the coffee coop we visited
But on our trip, we also visited with lots of people who work in all walks of life in El Salvador.  Their stories are part of this website.   Before you read, ask yourself, what do I know about El Salvador?  Where is it?  What's its history?  Can I remember anything about their civil war, which was in the news so long ago?

In the spring of 2005, I visited El Salvador with a delegation from the Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America.  We went to be part of the many commemorations that were happening around the 25th anniversary of the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero, who was shot to death in 1980 as he celebrated Communion in his church.
