The Shicali ceramics workshop in San Salvador is just one part of the mission of the Cooperative Association and Independent Group for Integrated Rehabilitation, which provides a spectrum of services for disabled people in the capital. Shicali provides a way for participants to make money and to support the association. We saw many workers signing to each other; about two-thirds of the workshop participants are deaf. The workshop is a great place for them to meet with each other and socialize.
