As Summer 2008 starts, we've got a couple of updates for you . . .
Hugh's home after spending his junior year of high school in Alicante, Spain. He stayed with a terrific family, aced Music History and struggled through 15th Century Castilian Lit, and played in the youth division of his city's soccer team. His teammates couldn't get enough of hearing how he changed into his uniform at home and drove to a city park to play games in Chicago, or how his parents drove him to out of town games. They couldn't imagine playing without their dedicated stadium, locker rooms and deluxe tour bus.

Robert graduated from eighth grade in June, and is excited about starting high school next year at Richards. This will be the first time Hugh and Rob have gone to the same school since we moved to Oak Lawn five years ago.
This summer, Robert will play one of Fagin's thieves in a production of Oliver! with a local group, the Pilgrim Players. This is his first time working with them. In December, he played Tiny Tim in a local production of A Christmas Carol.
In March, Rob went with both of us to Washington D.C., to take part for the first time in Ecumenical Advocacy Days. He went with us to some of the workshops on Latin American policy, and was interested enough in what he heard about Guatemala to write a letter to his representative before we left. He went along with the entire delegation on our visits with our senators' foreign policy staffers, and he wrote his own script and had a role in our visit with our rep's staffer. We went together to the Holocaust Museum, which Robert has wanted to visit for a long time.
