We stayed at City Backpacker - great open-air courtyard, free Internet access, and a sauna (above). Our favorite restaurant was Sjätte Tunnan (the Sixth Barrel), a medieval restaurant with the most delicious pear cider, and lots of dishes with game and root vegetables. Since some of my favorite foods as a child were beets and rutabega, this was the place for me.
We walked many miles back and forth on Drottninggatan, one of the main shopping streets in the city, which ran near our hostel to Gamla Stan, the Old Town.
